I searched the internet a lot to buy a 3D TV that scores in all segments, best picture quality, good sound, smart features, and obviously 3D. I went to almost 6 shops to find out which one is best. I also had a confusion regardinh the size i.e 32 inch vs 42 inch and Sony vs LG vs Samsung. So if you have a similar confusion, read on... nSize matters: After extensive window shopping and taking demonstration by shops, there is no doubt that Bigger is better. With a 42 inch 1080p full HD TV, minimum viewing distance from TV is 6 ft. And if you want to enjoy 3D movies which is quite easily available now a days from yify you must buy 42 inch. Otherwise you will not enjoy 3D world as it should be. So if your viewing distance is between 6-8 feet. 42 inch is the best. nType of 3D: Search the internet. With active 3D pros: full HD viewing, cons: flicker, need to change battery frequently and almost 5 times the cost of extra or new glassesnPassive 3D: No flicker (atleast I have not seen yet), low price ( around 350 bucks), no battery. Cons: theoretically inferior picture though I could not appreciate that. So I decided to go for Passive.nNow at this point, Samsung only makes active 3D, LG only passive and Sony's older model W900A had active and this newer model has passive 3D. n3D experience: I found that 3D effect was best in class in LG(6200B, 6500). Though both Samsung H6400 42 and Sony W900b were not lagging behind. For me, LG 9/10, Samsung and sony 8/10 nPicture quality: This is the most important parameter and thankfully there is no confusion. Sony's W900B has no competitor with is unmatched contrast, brightness, beautiful colour and deep black, this is phenomenal. I just can't believe how beautiful it looks, play any 1080p movie. Even 320p or 480p video looks surprisingly good. And it has IPS pannel. -10/10n Samsung stood at second with more a realistic looking colour and good black, though contrast is lesser. Though the panel is not IPS...8.5/10n LG 6500 has little lesser colour output, slightly lesser contrast and definitely the blacks are not dark black like sony or samsung. To my liking, it scores 7/10 nSound: Clear winner again: SonyW900B -awesome sound with best bass and trebble. My room is 14/12 feet and it feels the room at 60% sound level without needing my Haman Cordon soundstick! Best part is the quality of sound.9/10n Samsung H6400 has a little louder sound but is a bit tinny and bass is not that thumping. good for a TV but you will need a sound system 7.5/10n LG also has good overall soundb but not like sony. 8/10 nSmartness: It is upto you how much smartness you need. All three can play youtube video efficiently and has a lots of app to fiddle with. Samsung has some funny finger gesture methods, Sony has inbuilt camera for skype call. For me I needed to play music photo and video/movies from my phone and sony can do that easily. If you have samsung phone with allshare functionality it is super easy to play in any of these TV. If not then download ismartshare app and voila, your mobile content are on TV. You also can stream anything from windows 7 PC via DLNA technology using Homgroup and windows media player. So that's all that I wanted. I dont have detail of these smart features in samsung and LG TV as I don't own them.n So after all these research I bought Sony W900B from local store as flipkart does not ship it to my location. Overall, W900B is most costly of the three TV at the time of writing this review, but after watching and listening to it I felt so happy and blessed. I ordered 2 extra glass at 680 bucks online and now we can watch 3D movies with whole family sitting by side. nVery Important:n When I bought it the service engineer could not tell me how to display the subtitle!!! I was shocked. later I found out. Just keep the subtitle file in the same folder with the exact same name as the avi file. If it is not displayed automatically, click the button which is immediately below the source button at the upper left corner. If you see boxes instead of subtitle, now click Option and change the encoder to UTF-8. Thats itn Initially skype was not working and there were very few apps, no youtube app, only browser to play youtube video, so I searched the support section and found out that new firmware version is available. I downloaded the firmware in USB drive and followed the procedure as advised. It is super easy and the TV updated itself. And now everything is working!!!! Huge list of apps including skype and youtube, TV is much faster and smoother and I can play anything from my laptop wirelessly via wifi direct using windows media player.nPlease like it if it is helpful!!
This tv is fabulous one from SONY, designed for perfection , mind blowing picture quality, though the smart features are not outstanding, its a best bet considering the picture quality and i have heard that SONY's 3D is not good compared to others and all but its a different story inside , its a passive 3D so that you can make every HD video as 3D with simulated 3D and believe me it works clean. Thanks to TRI Luminous display it rocks, it can support upto 2TB hard disk, also it can play .MKV format seamlessly .nni got this TV from a local dealer for 1,17,000 as a Christmas offer. and am a happy .nnconclusion: tho it looks pricey if you can afford it , i will tell you its a best bet in this segment.
