Microsoft is giving its AI assistant Copilot one of the biggest updates yet with the aim of making it more personal, social and human. Microsoft has announced 12 new features aimed towards making Copilot smarter, more connected, and more useful in everyday life.

In a YouTube video, Mustafa Suleyman, CEO of Microsoft AI and Jacob, Head of Product for Microsoft AI, walked through all the new capabilities, from group collaboration and memory to a new animated AI companion named Mico.

Availability

All the new updates are now available in the US and are rolling out in all the other regions starting today. Specific feature availability may vary by market, device, and platform. Let’s take a look at what’s new with Microsoft Copilot.

Copilot Groups

With Groups, Copilot turns into a shared AI experience. Up to 32 people can now collaborate in real time, whether it’s for brainstorming, co-writing documents or study sessions.

Copilot Mico

Microsoft is introducing Mico, a customisable AI character designed to make interactions feel more natural and expressive. As per the brand, Mico can listen, react and even change colours based on tone or emotion, which is supposed to give Copilot a more human touch.

Memory and personalisation come to Copilot

With this update, Microsoft is saying that Copilot can now remember key details you share and bring them up in future conversations. Brand says it’s a step towards making the AI feel more personal while staying private and user-controlled.

Connectors

With Connectors, Copilot can access content across multiple accounts, making it easier for the user to find what they need using natural language commands.

Copilot for Health and Learning

Brand says the new Copilot for health can now assist users with common health-related questions. Though its real-world accuracy is worth keeping an eye on. Meanwhile, the new Learn Live feature can turn Copilot into a voice-enabled tutor that helps explain complex concepts interactively.

Copilot mode in Edge and Windows

Microsoft is also turning Edge into an AI browser, evolving the Copilot sidebar into a smarter, more context-aware companion. Meanwhile, on your Windows 11 PCs, Copilot can act as a true AI PC assistant. User can now simply wake it up anytime by saying “hey, Copilot” and start a conversation right away.

Beyond Edge and Windows, the brand is also introducing pages, which are said to offer multi-file upload, supporting up to 10 files across common document, image, and text formats.
