Motorola Edge 60 Pro users in India are beginning to receive the Android 16 upgrade, which brings a boost in user experience and performance of devices. Android 16 update for the Edge 60 Pro has a firmware size of about 2GB and introduces a more expressive, secure, and personalised user experience. Users are invited to update through their device settings under system updates. Although the update brings a few new features, users need to be ready for the first update process, which might include downloading considerable data and a post-update optimisation period.

Among the prominent upgrades are enhanced security features against malicious apps, greater support for LE audio devices, and the addition of Google’s new Material You – now Material Expressive – with a colourful and lively design aesthetic on Motorola phones. The update will bring with it a more refined user interface with smoother animations and more elegant visual elements.
Motorola’s rollout of Android 16 remains very much like stock Android, not featuring heavy customisations. Motorola has yet to add the Material 3 Expressive UI at this point, and it appears that those deeper design enhancements are waiting for a subsequent release – either Android 16.1 or an independent update.
For most, the new update offers under-the-hood enhancements over flashy visual upgrades. There’s more comprehensive compatibility with LE Audio devices like hearing aids, along with convenient new preset modes such as Bedtime and Driving. All these can be personalised, allowing users to develop their own profiles based on individual routine and preferences.
One useful improvement is a simplified way of connecting to Wi-Fi networks using a one-tap gesture. This prevents people from having to go through the common multi-step routine and join quickly.
Still, a few features are missing. Moto AI, Motorola’s collection of intelligent AI features such as Moto Assistant and Moto AI Summarizing, is left out of the Android 16 update for the majority of devices. These enhanced AI features continue to be limited to the high-end Razr (Ultra) series at present, which could be a letdown for Edge and G series users who are expecting more intelligent capabilities in this update.
Motorola has been consistently expanding its lineup, with the Edge 60 Fusion itself already receiving Android 16 in India. The Edge 60 Pro follows just a bit later, highlighting Motorola’s focus on providing timely software updates to its Indian flagship offerings.
Among other Motorola phones, users of the Motorola Edge 50 series can also expect the update to roll out soon to them.
