Qualcomm has formally launched the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chip for budget and entry-level smartphones. Powered by an improved 4nm node, the new processor brings significant gains: up to 36 percent boost in CPU performance and up to 59 percent enhanced GPU performance compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 of last year.
At its core, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 features an octa-core Kryo CPU with a 4+4 architecture: four performance cores clocked up to 2.4GHz and four efficiency cores running at 1.8GHz. The chipset brings a 64-bit design, supporting the latest apps and multitasking needs. This processor comes with a Qualcomm Adreno GPU, supporting HDR gaming, 10-bit colour depth, and other graphics features such as Vulkan 1.1 and OpenGL ES 3.2, that guarantee smoother graphics and improved gaming performance.
For display capabilities, Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 offers Full HD+ screens of up to 144Hz refresh rates, so fast scrolling and gaming are visually smooth even on lower-cost devices. The camera hardware gets a bump, with support for single sensors of up to 200 megapixels and dual 16MP configurations, underpinned by a triple 12-bit Qualcomm Spectra ISP and Multi-Frame Noise Reduction to capture clearer, sharper photos.

Connectivity is also a selling point: Wi-Fi 6E and 5G mmWave for speedy, trustworthy web and internet connectivity, and Bluetooth 5.4. Satellite navigation is supported for QZSS, Galileo, Beidou, GLONASS, NavIC, and GPS, enabling precise positioning.
Other specs include LPDDR5 RAM support up to 3200MHz, UFS 3.1 storage, and Quick Charge 4+ fast charging through USB-C. Security also gets a boost with Qualcomm’s new 3D Sonic Sensor for speedy, consistent in-display fingerprint authentication.
By extending flagship-quality features like high refresh-rate screens, higher-end camera hardware, and robust connectivity to mass-market prices, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 aims to upgrade the budget Android world and open up more access to high-end mobile technology.
