Budget laptop suitable for daily needs
Overall User Rating (3.1 Out of 5 based on 14 ratings)
Overall: I bought this one recently (although not from Flipkart, but still writing my review here), and I dont know what Dell has done with this machine, but it is very slow. Sometimes it takes forever to switch between desktop and metro apps and vice-versa. Changing the laptop power option to "Max performance" made things a bit better, but frustratingly, it is still slow at times. Now, what is most frustrating is this - we bought 2 laptops with similar config... one is this Dell, with Core i3, 2 GB RAM and 500 GB Hard disk. The other one (which was for my father-in-law) was a Lenovo with Pentium proc (a lower class processor than Core i3), and 2GB RAM, 500 GB Hard disk. The Lenovo has been consistently running faster than the Dell, while being at least 15K cheaper! I later compared the specs in more detail, and found that Dell has clocked this at 1.7 GHz, while the Lenovo is running at 2.2 GHz. I then remembered that the salesman had said that there is a option from Dell to add more RAM to this laptop to speed it up. So then I started calling Dell customer care and sales numbers, but the response I get is "Not available", and they keep ping-ponging my call between sales and service/repair. So overall, I would give very low rating to this laptop. Dell's service is also not up to the mark.
