HTC redefined the budget smartphone with its original HTC Wildfire. Not only did it bring Android to a whole new demographic of mobile users, but it also introduced lots of key functionality, such as tethering and Flash-support, to lower-cost handsets. It also looked a lot like the high-flying HTC Desire as well, which no doubt did it a lot of favours. The HTC Wildfire S features Android 2.3, an all-new design, is extremely pocketable and also bo...

Pros:  Android 2.3, fluid interface, very little lag, improved display, nice design, premium build quality

Cons:  It's a bit chunky, the camera isn't very good, no front-facing camera, limited internal storage

Verdict:  In short: if you want a well specced Android 2.3 handset that’ll do pretty much anything you can throw at it — within reason — but you don’t want to spend a fortune, then the HTC Wildfire S is...

Mini phones are hot and HTC don’t want you take Sony Ericsson’s word on that. What started as a small niche is now a segment that keeps growing – and one that no manufacturer can afford to ignore. Sony Ericsson have just announced their updated mini lineup while Samsung and LG routinely have more than one thing going on in the midrange. HTC know they can’t afford to stop right in the middle of what they’ve been doing with the Wildfire, ...

Verdict: The whole S lineup by HTC is under clear instructions not to be too generous with the upgrades. The Wildfire S takes that almost literally but isnÂ’t afraid to smuggle in something thatÂ’s actually worth it. In our case here, the screen is the ...

Expectations around the HTC Wildfire S are, a little surprisingly, high. The third of HTC’s new Android devices from MWC 2011 in February, the entry-level smartphone replaces the Wildfire, a device which managed to carve itself quite the niche among pre-pay users and the budget or bulk conscious. Now the S-variant comes to further refine the lineage: we’re a long way from the Tattoo, but has HTC done enough to keep the Wildfire S rele...

    30 Apr 2011 | phonearena

Much like the HTC Desire, the original Wildfire played a significant part in bringing HTC and Android to the masses. More affordable than its higher specced sibling, it was nevertheless endowed with HTC`s trademark build quality and Sense UI. In our......

With the times as tough as they are today it is no surprise that many people look to save money anywhere they can, and for many an easy savings is in their cell phone bill. Virgin Mobile has done a great job with their smartphone line up, bringing great handsets to their network, and recently they added the HTC Wildfire S for their customers. Sure, it may not be the most powerful Android handset to date, or have the largest screen, or the highest...
