Still Loving...

"Loving it! I have been using this Laptop for 6 days....here's my feedback. Installing Windows 8 was a task. When I tried installing win 8 64 bit, it gave some strange error "irql_not_less_or_equal" just before finishing installation. Same results with 32 bit. Win 7, 64 bit installed just fine. Then upgraded to Win 8 but again got some serious kernel error. It attempted to repair by itself and after 15 mins....I finally got the Win 8 desktop. Since then, the laptop has been flawless. I got this laptop to carry it around and work on MS office. This is absolutely light, awesome blue colour...good overall finish, good keyboard, occasional skips due to touch pad....but that can be handled by turning off the tap option. Its better to use a Bluetooth mouse. The USB 3 port gives a transfer rate of 24mb/s with a usb 2 device..whereas the same device when connected to a USB 2 port gives 19 mb/s. Not checked with USB 3 device but m sure transfer rates will be much higher. Battery backup is great at 6 hrs while reading pdf in medium screen brightness. Played HD video with no problems. Overall a lovely looking device that is portable, great finish, good battery backup. U can safely call this a poor man's Ultrabook!! Just a caution: The latest Atom processors have compatibility issues with Win 8.

Absolutely Stunned!

Oh my God! Where do I start? As much as I'm excited about my new Acer Aspire One 725 - let me take a moment to tell just how awesome my Flipkart experience has been. I have been through hundreds of laptops - in stores and online for almost a month, and then I found this one. After finally settling on it, I placed my order on Saturday morning, and was told to expect delivery in 6 days (which is pretty normal). That evening, I received an email telling me that my order was dispatched (from Delhi), and on Monday morning, I received my Netbook at 10:30am in Bangalore! Flipkart is the only Online shopping site that I know now that processes orders over weekends - they truly are the best in the industry! Now on to the Netbook. After a search that spanned a good two months (or more), I think it's safe to say that in it's class, this specific model of the Acer Aspire One 725 is definitely the best! The Pros: - USB 3.0 - Bluetooth 4.0HS - 500GB HD - HD Display - Dedicated 256MB ATI Radeon Graphics - The colour is awesome! No Netbook is gonna give you a combination of all of these features The Cons: - 2GB RAM (but you can upgrade it) - Linux preloaded (but you can always swap out the OS) - The trackpad keys can be a bit 'clicky' I love how portable this thing is! I'm practically running around the house with it because I can! And the colour is amazing - really stands out from all the other Netbooks out there right now; except that it's a fingerprint magnet, which kinda sucks. For people making the move to a Netbook, it's gonna take some time to get used to the keys, but once you do, it'll be an ease to type on. Where the OS is concerned, you will have to swap it out since the preloaded flavour of Linux is Linpus, and unless you're comfortable with Comand Line - you're not gonna get very far. Getting the Netbook up and running could take you about an hour or more since all the drivers need to be downloaded, so you may want to do that while you wait for your lappy to get delivered. Since this Netbook comes preloaded with Linux, it has none of the Windows Drivers. That being said, this is definitely the best Netbook available right now. Spend a few extra bucks to upgrade the RAM, and take the time to swap out the OS, and you definitely won't be disappointed, cos you're not gonna find a config like this anywhere at this price!

Magnificent Product

To start off this product is absolutely stunning considering the other netbooks of varied brands and even their relatively higher costs. This netbook certainly lets you to live up to the fullest, whether its about processing speed, Graphics or any other thing ,,,its just fantastic! Now since this a Dos based netbook its needed to install windows 7 (Recommended) using a bootable hard disk or USB. For those of you who don't know how to carry out this process here a short nutshell explanation about it: 1) Firstly you need to convert your USB into a bootable one using the diskpart method which u will find in detail on the internet quite easily!! 2)Now turn on you netbook and press F-12 to start the bios,,go to the boot section and switch the priority of USB-HDD to the 1st place, now save and exit. 3)Plug in your bootable usb device with win 7 set up in it. the set up will start. 4)Now before initiating the installation process you will see 2 partitions on the screen ,one would be primary and the other would be marked system. You need to Format the second Partition and then click the next button to start the installation process. 5)By now your win 7 is installed, now copy all the contents of the acer resource DVD which came in the package to a usb pen drive and pulg in the usb and start installing all the resourceful softwares from it. 6) Now most of you would see that There is a webcam on the top of the Netbook, But unfortunately there is no software to make it work,But don't get worried you just have to download "GOOGLE PICASA" software which will help you make the webcam operable. 7) Now as you are done with everything lets check the bluetooth functionality of this netbook,,,Most of you would find it difficult as to from where to start the bluetooth,,its even not mentioned anywhere in any of the booklets of acer netbook. Have a look at your keypad you will see a button with "Fn" imprinted on it. all you need to do is to press that button along with "F3" and you will get WIFI AND BLUETOOTH turn on and off options on your desktop screen. So at last everything is unveiled in the above mentioned steps as to how to make the netbook totally operable. now to talk about its Pros and cons i would simply state that its Perfect ,whether its in terms of graphics or anything else. To talk about the graphics its just next to astonishing,,You may run any game on it which requires higher graphics to run smoothly. To talk about the RAM, Its only 2GB which of course can always be Extended. To end it ,,,ITS Great!! You will be surprised and stunned as well!!

Good netbook or less powerfull notebook

I never like a full fledged notebook, if power is needed, then the desktop is the first device I prefer. I previously had Asus 1000HE. Never had a problem - small, light, great battery of 8-9 hrs. I used that for almost 4 years and sold that for 1/3 of the original price to get myself a tablet (galaxy tab 2 3g). While the tablet is great, it can never replace the worst laptop in terms of usability and productivity. So, I had two choices - Asus 1015cx or Acer 725. I was not willing to try Acer or AMD. But by features, Acer seemed a great one. Great price, great screen (1366x768 must if you consider Windows 8 or latest linux), good keyboard (bad arrow keys though) and expandability. The only gripe is the battery life. I am not used to a netbook with only 3-4 hours of battery - less 1 star for that. But overall this is a great product if you are into movies, music, reading, browsing and creating contents in MS Productivity suites.

Acer Aspire one 725 rocks

My earlier laptop had crashed and i was looking for a replacement net book and found this to be a good choice. As usual the online experience, shipping and delivery from Flipkart was excellent. I ordered this on Monday and got the delivery on Wednesday. The packaging was awesome and computer delivered was great Now about the product, the key pros and cons are as below Pro- The chicklet keyboard, standard is easier to use compared to the past laptop, which had all the keys cramped together. The additional spacing between the key is great The display rocks and it gives 3 hrs on one charge with normal usage. The 500 GB HDD, 2 GB Ram and 128 MB dedicated graphics memory with the fast AMD dual core processor C70 is quite a power house for basic usage. Plus i have a dedicated desktop so this computer is a value for money buy. Cons - It came with a basic Linux O/S which was crappy and I got Ubuntu 12.0.4 installed. The installation was easy, considering that Ubuntu supports USB based installation. The computer does not have an optical drive, so if you use this as primary computer then it may not be an ideal choice. With Ubuntu O/S i found some issues with the track pad, which was resolved using the Ubuntu forum guide Overall a good buy and highly recommended, for your second laptop, that is portable
