The only thing that seriously works in favour of this laptop is the CPU+GPU combo at the price point. There is simply no other laptop that will give you this combo below 50k!nnProtip: keep checking flipkart from time to time as these guys offer 5% off in some deals. so the price effectively becomes ~43981 than 46k!nnNow some tidbits - a lot of the facts listed on this flipkart page is incorrect. the laptop comes with GT 640m, 4GB in 1 slot not 2, Windows 7 Home Basic and not HPnnGood enough for a people who want the perfect balance b/w a machine that is mainly for work (read programming and development) while still moderately decent (read slightly above average) at gaming. I know i5 is more than enough for programming but that is altogether a different story.nnPros - n1. Processorn2. GPUn3. The above two at the price pointn4. Keyboardn5. Not an excessive amount of crap/bloatware installed on this laptop. This one was a "surprisingly" lean machine.n6. Battery - With careful settings and planning you can easily squeeze more than 5.5 hours of web surfing on this laptop which is pretty great given the ratings of the battery. I managed 5 hours 10 mins. nnCons - n1. Display - Oh goodness. Though the poor quality of display might not be evident to everyone and not everyone needs or desires a good quality display but boy it is really horrible if you have experienced good ones before. The poor viewing angles and low contrast are really evident in a few days of use. even my 6 year old HP laptop manages a slightly better display than this acer. Google the LG display in this laptop or read anandtech's review of the screen and you can see what I mean. I chose to ignore anandtech's review (thinking blah! It cannot be that bad!) but boy was I wrong!nn2. Built quality not sturdy enough. Think twice if you are planning to roam the rough and tough streets of india with this laptop in your backpack!nn3. Hard Disk - This one is a bummer and a joykill. Despite the fantastic cpu-gpu combo this laptop sours on performance only because of THIS hard disk. Though the hard disk is one of the fastest ones in its categories (5400 rpm 2.5") I'd prefer to take points away from Acer for cheaping out way too much and cutting corners where it was not necessary! Transfer speeds of 22-23 MB/s WITHIN PARTITIONS is disappointing (I can understand those speeds from USB to internal hard disk but not b/w different partitions of the same hard disk). Linux makes things slightly faster (stabilising speeds at 28-30 MB/s) but Windows is woefully unoptimized. I've been experimenting more with this (doing clean reinstall of windows and seeing the impact of different drivers on the transfer speeds). To my surprise making a clean/vanilla/generic install of windows (not with the recovery cd and any acer utilities) and NOT installing Intel AHCI (or intel RST) drivers seems to speed up things a little which is exactly opposite of what that application was designed to do. But YMMV. I plan to install a SSD in this laptop and whisk away the internal hard disk to be used as a external one with an enclosure.nn4. No of USB ports - 1 USB 3.0 + 2 USB 2.0? Acer are you kidding us in 2013?nnNeither pros-nor-cons but still - nn1. Acer has been picky with it's hardware. This is one laptop where windows will not be able to work with its generic drivers for the vast majority of the components. And the drivers do not come in small sizes. The collective drivers package will cross 1.7 GB. :O Compared to my HP which crosses a measely 280MB for everything.nn2. Weird touchpad. Nothing great nor extremely bad. Just usable. Sometimes tries to be funny by duplicating each and every click. nn3. Warranty - According to acer replacing the hard disk and the ram in this laptop will void the warranty which is a highly unusual practice (there are two stickers underneath the laptop. One black one on a screw securing the maintenance bay and another shiny one on a screw securing the rest of the lower body.)nn4. This laptop may also be able to support two hard drives (the other one replacing the optical drive in the laptop). A quick search online shows that caddy's are available for this series of laptop and the chipset supports it too so you might be able to have the best of both worlds by using a SSD+HDD combo. But be warned that this is just theoretical research and I've not carried it out myself (maybe after two years when warranty expires). Do it at your own peril.nnFinal thoughts - If you are tight on budget but still need some fantastic horsepower and are willing to compromise on the display, build quality and hard disk then buying this one is a no brainer. Not to forget that each of those cons (except the build quality) can be overcome by plugging the laptop into a external display and swapping the hard disk with a SSD and maybe using a USB hub.
As usual flipkart delivered this product within a time period what they promised to me and coming to elaborate this laptop as pros:-good gaming as i played almost every game what i loved like AC3,Batman series, farcry 3, crysis etc and good battery backup cons:-display is very poor quality, build-in quality is also poor, audio is horrible to hear the sound, Bluetooth is not working at all.
