Verdict
The Asus Netbook is a very handy gadget for domestic applications that involves travel and a great way to be connected to the internet on the road. It`s also good for jobs involving office applications and for general multimedia purposes that is exclusively for the owner`s use. The Netbook is perfect for net surfing and small domestic jobs.
Handy, compact and efficient

Display and Design

Asus 1015CX is a small and compact Netbook that has been given a sleek look with touchpad and a Chiclet Keyboard. The screen is a 10.1 inch WSVGA with anti glare. The small and compact size fits into the hubbub of everyday use and is practically perfect for those jobs that require a lot of travel.

Processor and OS

The machine houses an Intel 2nd Generation Atom Dual Core processor that has a clocking speed of 1.6 GHz. The net cache memory delivered by the processor is 1 MB. The processor is supported by a 2 GB DDR3 RAM and a 320GB SATA hard disk drive. It is also compatible with SATA SSDs and with the right settings can improve performance readily. It houses an internal Intel GMA 3600 graphics card that can easily play 1080p HD videos but are unresponsive in case of 3D acceleration which it does not support.

The OS platform provided with the machine is the latest version of the ExpressGate Cloud which is a good browsing platform. The system settings work best with a Linux and require some moderate tweaking and regular maintenance in case of Windows. It does not support CPU intensive softwares but gives a smooth performance with typical office applications like spreadsheets, presentations, pdf, etc.

Camera, Storage, and Multimedia

The Netbook comes with its own 0.3 Megapixel camera. The internal memory is expandable only up to 2GB and it comes with a 2 GB DDR3 RAM itself. The motherboard houses a 320 GB SATA Hard Disk Drive but is compatible to support a SATA SSD as well. Owing to its small size it does not have an Optical Disk Drive. The sole speaker is not very impressive but plugged in headphones or external speakers, sound quality and volume increases readily. It also has its own in built microphone.

Connectivity and Battery

It doesn`t have an Optical Drive but supports three USB 2.0 ports as well as an RJ45 LAN port, HDMI, VGA, and Multi Card slot. The three USB 2.0 ports makes up for the absent optical drive and opens up the possibility of using a USB mouse. The powerful 6 cell battery gives up to 11 hours of battery life and about 7 hours on heavier use like intensive net surfing.
