If you are willing to buy a notebook without spending much and ready to bear with the simple capabilities, the Asus X550CA-XX703D is a good buy. On the positive side, it has a large HD display backed by an efficient processor. On the downside, it lacks any user friendly OS and looks too thick.

Display and Design

 

The Asus X550CA-XX703D comes with a 15.6-inch HD TFT LCD Color display with LED backlight featuring the typical resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. The Glare display is designed to be vibrant and reproduce colors in a better manner thereby looking gorgeous while playing videos and games. However, it can turn out to be reflective and problematic for your eyes if used for a long time. With a thickness of 31.7mm, the device appears to be too thick to be easily lugged around.

 

CPU and Platform

 

The centre of the notebook is configured with a 1.8GHz Intel Core i3-3217U processor from the 3rd generation family and paired on HM76 Express chipset which is further supported by a DDR3 RAM of just 2GB. The Intel HD 4000 graphics processor makes sure that the device doesn’t pose much interruption while running demanding games and videos. It comes preloaded with the DOS.

 

Camera, Storage and Multimedia

 

The Asus X550CA-XX703D has a webcam integrated with an internal microphone sports a 500GB 5400rpm SATA hard disk for taking care of the storage needs of the user. The presence of a SuperMulti DVD Drive lets you transfer files on different types of disks.

 

The stereo speakers running on SonicMaster technology provide utmost clarity in terms of audio. The input devices include a standard touchpad and a keyboard.

The Asus X550CA-XX703D is equipped with a four-cell Li-ion battery which stores sufficient power to run the gadget’s functions normally for a decent amount of time. Coming to the connectivity features, it is loaded with 1 USB 2.0 port, 1 USB 3.0 port, HDMI out, digital media reader, VGA port, Bluetooth v4.0, WLAN and Ethernet 10/100/1000 BASE-T.
