If you are looking for an entry level laptop that comes at a decent price, you can shortlist the Asus X55OCA-XX705D. The support for Gigabit Ethernet and USB 3.0 slot in this price range is seriously commendable. However, you will have to bear with the old configuration and absence of preloaded OS which is okay considering the price.

The Asus X55OCA-XX705D arrives with a 15.6-inch HD LED backlit display which offers visuals with a native resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. The black colored lid with hair line finish may not look appealing but prevents scratches and smudges. The keyboard deck carries an attractive and smooth silver color. It has an overall thickness of 31.7 mm and a weight of 2.3 kg.

 

Processor and OS

 

On the inside, the Asus X55OCA-XX705D is packed with a 1.5GHz Intel Celeron Dual Core 1007U processor operating on HM76 Express chipset. For supporting the processor there is a mere 2GB DDR3 RAM which is acceptable considering the price. You can expand it up to 4GB via the 2 user accessible memory slots. It manages rich graphics with the inbuilt Intel HD 4000 GPU. The machine comes preloaded with 64 bit MS DOS.

Equipped with a 4 cell Li-ion battery, the Asus X55OCA-XX705D is capable of providing up to 4.5 hours of backup, which is pretty impressive. Coming to the networking and connectivity options, it poses HDMI out, Bluetooth v4.0, 1 USB 2.0 port, WLAN, 1 USB 3.0 slot, Gigabit Ethernet, VGA port and digital media reader.
