Go for the ASUS X553MA-XX064D if you need a stylish and eye catchy laptop within a low budget. It is capable of executing simple business related computing tasks smoothly. The lack of any OS is acceptable considering its budget and can be overcome by buying one.

Display and Design

The ASUS X553MA-XX064D poses a 15.6-inch HD TFT Colour display offering modest visuals with a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. It has a thickness of 36.5mm which makes it slightly difficult to be carried around. However, it tips the scale at just 2.1kg. The concentric circular finish on the lid and the unique purple colour make it a great one for attention seekers.

CPU, RAM and Platform

On the inside, the laptop is equipped with a 4th generation Intel Pentium quad-core N3530 processor clocked at 2.1GHz. It works along with a paltry 2GB RAM which is okay in light of its price. It also has only one DIMM slot for expanding the RAM's memory up to 4GB. It manages rich games and videos with the integrated Intel HD graphics unit. Being a low budget laptop, it doesn't have any preloaded platform.

Camera, Storage and Multimedia

The ASUS X553MA-XX064D supports online video calls with the webcam sitting above the display and provides sufficient storage space with a Serial-ATA hard disk of 500GB. It even has a SuperMulti DVD Drive which is a bit surprising in this price range. Powered by SonicFocus, the stereo speakers provide loud and rich sound.

Battery and Connectivity

The ASUS X553MA-XX064D is loaded with a 2 cell Li-ion battery which claim to deliver non stop service for up to 4.5 hours. The ports spotted in the laptop include Ethernet port, HDMI out, one high speed USB 3.0 slot, 1 USB 2.0 port, digital media reader, HDMI out, VGA port and mini D-sub 15-pin port. Wireless communication options include WLAN and Bluetooth v4.0.
