The Asus X55C-SX161D has been built for those who need a laptop simply for meeting their basic computing needs and are ready to bear with poor performance without spending much. It impresses with its 8X optical drive, good connectivity options and powerful speakers but lacks a good RAM and any preloaded OS.

Display and Design

 

The Asus X55C-SX161D arrives with a HD LED backlit Glare display that comes with extra brightness and vibrancy to provide rich experience while playing media files but can be too stressful for your eyes if you work for a long period of time. The 15.6-inch panel features a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels.

 

It is housed in a 31.9mm thick black colored body which has a weight of 2.45kg and may pose some problems in case you need to carry it for long.

 

Processor and OS

 

At the heart of the device there is a 2.4GHz Intel Pentium Dual Core 2020M processor from the 2nd generation series and sitting on the HM70 Express chipset. It is supported by a mere 2GB DDR3 RAM which is expandable up to 6GB. It manages rich graphics with the built in Intel HD GPU. It comes preloaded with DOS.

 

Camera, Storage and Multimedia

 

The Asus X55C-SX161D has been spotted with a VGA webcam and meets the storage demands of the user with a typical 500GB SATA hard disk. What is really surprising is the presence of a high speed 8X SuperMulti DVD Drive having dual layer support which can be used for transferring data through disks instantly. The Altec Lansing speakers powered by Sonic Master Lite software provide rich and crisp sound.

The Asus X55C-SX161D is packed with a 6 cell Li-ion battery which claims to deliver uninterrupted service for a maximum period of 3 hours. The connectivity package installed in the notebook comprises of features like Bluetooth v4.0, WLAN, Gigabit Ethernet, 1 USB 2.0 port, 1 USB 3.0 slot, VGA port, HDMI out and 2-in-1 card reader.
