When Robbie (Kyle Ward) stole the car, crew members stood nearby and squirted the car tyres with WD-40 to make the tyres squeal as it was being driven away by the stunt guy.
The scene with Kyle Ward driving the car was filmed in Giltbrook Industrial Park. It was a hatchback car; the rear parcel shelf was removed and two or three crew members were crammed in the back with a big boom mike and with a small amount of camera and sound equipment. The car was stationary, as Kyle Ward wasn't old enough to drive. Crew members stood around the car, gently bouncing it up and down to give the appearance of the car being driven. Two crew members used waving boards to make the cloud shadows appear and disappear from the outside surface of the car.
