Tom Murphy (Paul) and Mark O'Halloran (Adam) were told by the local Garda Síochána, the Irish police, to leave the set as they thought that the two of them were real junkies looking to steal items from the set.
While shooting this movie, the director also had to keep shooting commercial video clips, his regular money job, because of the very low film budget.
The film's unit was tiny - one truck for camera, props and make-up and one minivan for the cast and crew.
Director Lenny Abrahamson has stated that the two leading characters are inspired by Laurel and Hardy.
The UK distributor David Wilkinson pointed out the film there were over 800 films eligible for the Evening Standard Best Screenplay award that year.
