Anne Boonchuy's character design is based on Matt Braly's grandmother when she was a little girl.
Anne Boonchuy is the first leading animated character in television history to be of Thai-American descent. The show's concept itself was based on Matt Braly's childhood trips to Bangkok, Thailand. Additionally, Brenda Song's mother is of Thai descent.
Sprig is the only character on the show to be played by a child.
As part of the advertising campaign for the series, short videos were produced featuring Kermit the Frog "consulting" with the show's creators. Kermit has since given the series his seal of approval and has a cameo appearance in one episode.
