STORY

Story
An evil caliph (Christopher Lee) offers his daughter’s hand in marriage to a prince if he can complete a perilous quest for a magical rose. Helped by a young boy and a magic carpet, Prince Hasan (Oliver Tobias), has to overcome genies, fire breathing monsters and treacherous swamps to reach his prize and claim the hand of the Princess Zuleira (Emma Samms).

According to the diaries of Milo O'Shea, the role of Khasim was originally intended for Kenneth Williams. To his displeasure, he ostensibly turned down the part to avoid having to wear a turban as Williams had done in Carry on Up the Khyber (1968).

Milton Reid was dubbed by Valentine Dyall.

Peter Cushing, Capucine and Mickey Rooney all received 'special guest appearance' credits.

Brian Hayles, who wrote the screenplay, died before the release of this movie. Keith Miles' novelization for Mirror Books was dedicated to his memory.
