This film is the final movie of Phase 6 and the end of the Multiverse Saga.
Anthony Russo and Joe Russo (directors of Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019)) have expressed interest in directing an Avengers movie based on the popular Secret Wars story-line from Marvel comics but it was confirmed by Kevin Feige the pair will not return to direct.
The film was originally set to release 6 months after Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (2025) on November 7th, 2025 but was delayed on October 11th, 2022 to May 1st, 2026. This puts the fifth and sixth Avengers films a year apart, much like how Avengers: Infinity War (2018) & Avengers: Endgame (2019) were.
