"Batman: Year One" was almost adapted as a live-action film to be directed by Darren Aronofsky from a screenplay by Frank Miller. "Warner Bros." scrapped the project in favor of Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins" (2005).
Bryan Cranston originally turned down the part of Jim Gordon because he thought this project was based on "Batman (1966)." He accepted after he read the script.
Planned for release in the US on the same day as "Batman: Arkham City (2011)."
Ben McKenzie, the actor who provides the voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne, is the only actor ever to portray both Batman and his ally James "Jim" Gordon. He portrayed Gordon in the Gotham (2014) television series.
David Mazzuccheli was rather angry that the re-print of the comic featured the DVDs cover. He stated that he felt DC conformed in order to promote the DVD.
