Nagma's story takes viewer into past of Rukhsar & Nagma's friendly competition, Rukshar's Meeting with Aslam. Their marriage problems start with the discovery of Rukhsar's inability to give birth to a child. Due to this, she asks for help from Nagma and she requests her to marry Aslam for a kid. After the marriage, Nagma's maternal uncle Ajgar Khan & Maternal Aunt conspire, due to which the gap between Aslam & Rukhsar gets widened. After many ups & downs the movie proceeds to an end.

When Sawan Kumar was on flight from London to Mumbai, he got the story idea of this film on flight and he started to write the script. Pran started to get unwell during the time of this film. Once Pran was unwell his family told him to rest but he refused, he went the sets of this film start work and he became very well.
Neelam was signed for the film but later replaced by Juhi Chawla.
Shilpa Shirodkar was approached for Nagma's role , but declined it.
Ayub Khan was offered the film but declined it as he was under contract with the Mirza's.
When the film was launched, it starred Vivek Mushran, Chandni, Shilpa Shirodkar.
