The scene shot just before the song "Agar tum saath ho", where Deepika tries to convince Ranbir, wasn't scripted, as told by Imtiaz Ali. The crew was bowled over to see the intensity of both. This is the reason, noone said 'cut' to end it.
Reportedly, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone returned 10 and 5 Crores respectively to the producers as the film didn't do business as expected.
Tamasha is inspired by Rumi quote, "Don't be satisfied with the stories that come before you. Unfold your own myth." That also fits with the film's tagline, "Why always the same story?"
The film was titled "Window Seat" when it was launched.
The "Social" Restaurant shown in the movie is located in Hauz Khaz Village, New Delhi
