The film was successfully crowdfunded on Kickstarter in early 2017 - with the project ending at 114% funded.
The film was inspired by George A Romero and Stephen King's Creepshow, both in terms of story and aesthetic. Husband and wife team, Davies & Moran, developed the film specifically as a love letter to 1980s anthology horror, including comic-book illustrations and transitions. The film has since been praised by critics "as though this were a lost British segment of Romero's anthology film." (SciFiNow)
The film was shot in two days in West London.
Blood Shed was shot on two cameras - the BlackMagic Ursa Mini and a BlackMagic production camera.
The 1980s inspired score is by BAFTA-nominated composer Ben Foster. His film work includes The Grey, Prometheus, and Prisoners, with TV credits including Thunderbirds Are Go, Torchwood, Happy Valley and Scott & Bailey.
