STORY

Story
John Twiller takes down his high school yearbook and begins to reminiscence about that time he first moved into the neighborhood in 1956. His teenage self, Jack is obsessed with Lily one of the more popular girls around. The sole obstacle is Angelo, her bullying boyfriend. With the help of his pals Crutch, Floyd, and Spider, he makes every attempt possible to change her mind.

In the book "Jack In The Box", Jack Twiller's experiences are followed from elementary to high school, while in his screenplay, William Kotzwinkle creates a younger brother, dividing these experiences between two separate characters.

Movie was almost completely filmed in Highland Park, Ca. Highland park is an old Los Angeles suburbs with very old architectural structures , streets and homes.

The US release was edited so it could receive a PG-13 rating, even though the directer wanted to give it an R rating, but New Line wanted to be teen safe. Many "F" words were edited out from it's original release but recent releases had all the original "F" words added the way the director intended to have it released.
