Chandi Sona is a 1977 crime thriller drama film starring Sanjay Khan, Parveen Babi, Pran and Premnath. Mayur and Rita are stage actors and lovers. They arrive on an island which has a tomb of Shahenshah Chandi Sona. Under the tomb is lot of wealth. The film is about Mayur and Rita's dramatic attempt to steal this wealth by taking help from escaped jailbirds and deep-sea divers. They do so by constructing an underground tunnel through the swimming pool in the house that they've bought from Mayadevi.

This was the first hindi film which was partly shot in Mauritius although Mauritius became popular in Bollywood with super success of Sawan Kumar's Sauten
There were stories in the media that after the flopping of Chandi Sona, Sanjay had asked Feroz for financial help. Feroz Khan refused to do so causing a rift between the brothers. Feroz denied this and stated Sanjay was to proud a man to ask for help. He had confidence that Sanjay would rise again and pull himself out of his bad situation.

Iron Butterfly' s song " In A Gadda Da Vida" was used as background music. In particular the drummer's solo part. Feroz Khan had earlier used it in Apradh.The song appears when Sanjay Khan and gang encounter a alligator underground. This is during their plan to rob the tombs of all the gold.
