Chernobyl (2021) is directed by and starring Danila Kozlovskiy, who also played Oleg in Vikings (2013-2020), which partly was directed by Johan Renck, who also directed the miniseries Chernobyl (2019).
The movie was finished in 2020, one year after the release of the HBO-dramatization of the same events Chernobyl (2019). However due to the COVID-19-restrictions the movie's premiere was delayed from October 2020 to April 2021. The final premiere was on the 15th April 2021, almost to the 35th anniversary of the actual Chernobyl disaster (26th April 1986).
