First original short film ever commissioned by The Tonight Show.
Before becoming a short film, the conversation between Dante and Randal in the traffic jam took place in the original Clerks 2 script as they were making their way to a Soul Asylum concert.
The short was included with the Clerks X Special Edition DVD. Since then, it been included with later home video re-releases of "Clerks" on multiple formats.
Unlike the Clerks films, profanity is never used.
Kevin Smith estimates that this short film was made for around $14,000 or $15,000, more than half the cost of the feature-length film Clerks (1994) in which Dante and Randall originally appeared. Clerks was budgeted at $27,575.
"Dante: All right! I'll go through with the deal. I'll let the German scientist hack my foot off. Then him and his friends can have their way with me. All for the flying car. Randal: You would do it with a bunch of guys just to get a car? I thought I knew you man."
"Dante: Ok, I'll trade my left foot for the flying car. Randal: Why your left foot? Dante: Oh, it's got an ingrown toenail."
