Jeffrey Ross told a joke at Seth Green's expense saying that he resembled James Eagan Holmes who killed 12 people in Aurora, Colorado weeks before the taping. The joke was deleted and was not broadcast.
Ellen Barkin was visibly impaired and intoxicated during the entire roast, slurring her words and behaving strangely, constantly flipping off and yelling at any of the roasters who made fun of her. She openly admitted to the audience having had much to drink and taken Valium when she went up for her set.
For this special, Jeff Ross dressed up as shamed former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno. At the time of the taping of this special, it had only been weeks since Paterno had been revealed to have had a role in the cover-up of former coach Jerry Sandusky's disgusting child sex scandal. Jeff Ross also walked the red carpet event for the show with shirtless young men wearing football helmets with towels wrapped around their waists and posed for pictures with them. This can be seen at end of the special, as the credits roll.
Sharon Stone was scheduled to appear but Ellen Barkin appeared in her place.
