Rotten TomatoesCreed II is a sports drama movie that revolves around Adonis Creed as he faces off against Viktor Drago, the son of the man who killed Adonis' father in the ring many years ago. The intense battle in the climax makes it a worthy watch. The sequel to the 2015 hit Creed is known for its intense fight sequences and acting performances. Furthermore, Michael B Jordan has nailed it in the lead role of Adonis Creed, being part of intense action sequences and making them look as realistic as possible. Even Sylvester Stallone's comeback as Rocky Balboa is fascinating as always. However, the film is too predictable. It follows a familiar formula, with little deviation from the standard sports movie tropes, alongside no emotional depth in the story. Overall, Creed II is entertaining and is a good watch if you are into movies that show inspiring sports stories. It's a worthy addition to the series and a fitting continuation of Adonis Creed's story.

Sylvester Stallone backed out of directing the film.
Rocky, who is now training Apollo Creed's son, is two years older than Mickey was when he trained Balboa in the original Rocky (1976).
Just like Rocky IV (1985), none of the prominent Russian characters are played by Russian actors. Dolph Lundgren is Swedish, Florian Munteanu is German-Romanian, and Brigitte Nielsen is Danish.
Brigitte Nielsen, who reprises her role from Rocky IV (1985) as Ivan Drago's ex-wife Ludmilla, is in real life the ex-wife of Sylvester Stallone. They were engaged during filming of Rocky IV, married after the premiere, and divorced two years later.
Dolph Lundgren collaborated with director Steven Caple Jr. to change his physique and age the character of Drago to visually translate the poverty and suffering endured, as he colored in yellow his teeth.
"Ivan Drago: [Drago sits at a table across from Rocky in the Adrian's restaurant] Because of you... I lose everything. My country. Respect. You ever see stray dogs in the Ukraine? They go for days without food. People spit on them, they are nothing. No home. Only will to survive... to fight. I have son. All he knows... [raises his fists] Ivan Drago: ... is this."
"[from trailer] Rocky Balboa: In the ring, you got rules. Outside, you got nothing. Life hits you with all these cheap shots. People like me, we live in the past. You got people that need you now. You got everything to lose, this guy has got nothing to lose. Adonis Johnson: I ain't gotta choice. Rocky Balboa: That's the same thing your father said, and he died right here [motions] Rocky Balboa: in my hands. Listen to me, this guy... he's dangerous. Adonis Johnson: But you don't think I can beat him...? [Rocky doesn't say anything]"
