Among all the obvious references to the film's predecessor Daddy's Home (2015), one is more subtle: when the men wake up in the middle of the night to find that Adrianna (Didi Costine) has fiddled with the thermostat, everyone sports huge sweat stains except for Dusty (Mark Wahlberg), whose clothes are completely dry. This recalls the scene from the first film where Brad (Will Ferrell) notes that Dusty can do all kinds of extreme work-out routines without breaking out in sweat.
Chevy Chase and Robert De Niro were considered for the roles of the two dads.
There is a post-credits scene.
When the power goes out during the screening of "Missile Tow", the theater usher, who interrupts the film, has The Fighter (2010) on his name badge as his favorite film, another Mark Wahlberg movie.
Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis were considered for the role of Kurt.
"Kurt: [to Dusty; referring to Brad] His total lack of masculinity, I mean his weak chin and soft underbelly bothers you not a bit? Brad: [after camera zooms out, to show him sitting in a chair next to Kurt and Dusty] You know, I'm just getting the feeling maybe you guys would like some privacy."
"Megan: I just shot a turkey and a man. Guess which one's dead."
