Dale Wheatley (producer/director/"Little Bum") uploaded the film for free streaming at the site www.freedonsplum.com in December 2015, along with an open letter to Di Caprio, challenging his version of events that led to the film being banned in the US and Canada.
As a result of a lawsuit brought by stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire (settled in 1999), this film cannot be shown commercially in the USA or Canada.

According to a deposition by Leonardo DiCaprio, this was intended to be a short film. It was shot over the course of two days and mostly improvised. Believing that the footage would be edited down to a short, and having mostly done the film as a favor to a friend for minimal pay, DiCaprio asked writer-producer Dale Wheatley, "Just make me look good." When Wheatley presented the film as a full-length feature using much more of the footage, DiCaprio and costar Tobey Maguire sued to block distribution. Said DiCaprio: "I would never go in for one night and improvise with my friends and make a feature film. There's no way I would do that."
