TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

According to an interview on IGN, the producers originally cast Liam Neeson in the role of Bowen, but at those time the studio didn't think audiences would buy him as an action hero. Ironically, Neeson starred Taken (2008), which relaunched his carrier as action hero from this movie ahead.

Draco the dragon never breathes fire from his mouth, only from his nostrils.

More than two hundred photos were taken of Sir Sean Connery with a variety of facial expressions, which, along with footage of his voice recording, were used to make Draco bear a stronger resemblance to him.

Excerpts from the music score have been used in dozens of movie trailers and even for a special projection at the 1997 Oscars. The main theme was also used as interstitial and credits music during the U.S. telecast of the 2004 Olympics.

Dennis Quaid broke a finger in a duel with David Thewlis and spent the last two weeks of the shoot in a plaster cast.

Popular Dialogues

"Draco: Who's the girl? Bowen: A nuisance! Get rid of her. Draco: Why? Bowen: They're trying to placate you with a sacrifice. Draco: [knowingly] Oh, now whoever gave them *that* bright idea? Bowen: Never mind! Just get rid of her! Draco: How? Bowen: Eat her! Draco: Oh, please. YUCK! Bowen: Aren't we squeamish; you ate Sir Egglemore, hypocrite! Draco: I merely chewed in self-defense, but I never swallowed."

"Bowen: And now, Draco, without you, what do we do? Where do we turn? Draco: [rising] To the stars, Bowen. To the stars."
