TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

First Disney animated movie to be spun off from a television series.

This was the first Walt Disney film released to theaters that was animated, not by the Disney "Feature Animation" division, but by the "Television Animation" division. This explains the notable difference in quality between this film and other Disney animated releases around the same time (for example, The Little Mermaid (1989), The Rescuers Down Under (1990), and Beauty and the Beast (1991)). The Television Animation division has since produced several other theatrical releases, such as A Goofy Movie (1995) and Peter Pan 2: Return to Never Land (2002) (with striking improvements in animation quality), as well as numerous direct-to-video sequels for Disney features.

Alan Young used to joke that given the treasure hunting story, that this movie would be the closest he'd get to playing Indiana Jones.

Webby is based on Daisy Duck's nieces April, May, and June. It would eventually be revealed in the DuckTales (2017) Reboot that Webby is in fact April.

There were originally plans to have films based on Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers (1989) and Goof Troop (1992) following this film. However, after the film performed below expectations at the box office, the "Chip 'n' Dale" film was scrapped and the "Goof Troop" movie was re-purposed as a standalone follow-up to the series, titled A Goofy Movie (1995).

Popular Dialogues

"Louie: Where are you going to keep all this treasure, Uncle Scrooge? Scrooge McDuck: I won't keep it all, Louie. Most of these artifacts will go to museums. Louie: That doesn't sound like Uncle Scrooge. Scrooge McDuck: That way, I can enjoy a healthy tax break! Huey: That does!"

"Genie: [looks through an encyclopedia] Las Vegas must be some place if Caesar built his palace there!"
