The film had a very tight filming schedule. Helena Bonham Carter was cast just 10 days before shooting began, the movie was filmed in 16 days and edited in eight days.

The film had a very small budget. Some of the costumes in the film are part of Helena Bonham Carter's wardrobe that she loaned to the production.

During its premiere, 'Enid' gave BBC4 its third biggest audience since the channel debuted in 2002. The premiere of 'Enid' was watched by 1.28 million viewers, a 5.6% share of multichannel homes in the UK.

Made as one of a three-part season called "Women We Loved" on BBC Four. The other two films in the series were Gracie! (2009) and Margot (2009).
