Author Ray Bradbury never did any fact-checking in regards to the title. He asked a fire chief at what temperature book paper burned, and was given the answer "451 degrees Fahrenheit." He liked the title so much that he didn't bother to see if it was the correct temperature.Although there is no standard tests for determining ignition temperatures, 451F has been measured to be paper's ignition temperature.
The book that Montag takes from the old woman's house is 'Notes from Underground', which coincidentally is also about a man struggling with his own existence.
The piano music played on the record is Gnossiennes No. 1 by Erik Satie.
Mel Gibson was planning to direct this remake, with Tom Cruise in the lead role, but schedules did not allow it.
In an homage to the 1966 version of the film, the 2018 version follows almost step for step when they burn the first "Eel" house, which houses the woman "The Grapes of Wrath." First Beatty tempts Montag to read the books from the secret upstairs library reciting some of the same sentiments about certain types of books. Beatty even snarls contemptuously at Mein Kampf. The fire fighters also fire a blue liquid from a similar liquid dispensing tube, saturating pages before they eventually started the fire.
"Clarisse McClellan: Why do I always make you nervous? Guy Montag: You don't. Clarisse McClellan: When I see you burning up Eel's lives, you don't look nervous. Guy Montag: That's because I'm very good at my job. Clarisse McClellan: Hmm. Have you ever thought, even for one second, why you do what you do? You should try reading before burning."
"Captain Beatty: Do you want to know what's inside all these books? Insanity. The Eels want to measure their place in the universe, so they turn to these novels about non-existent people. Or worse, philosophers. Look, here's Spinoza. One expert screaming down another expert's throat. "We have free will. No, all of our actions are predetermined." Each one says the opposite, and a man comes away lost, feeling more bestial and lonely than before. Now, if you don't want a person unhappy, you don't give them two sides of a question to worry about. Guy Montag: Just give 'em one. Captain Beatty: Better yet, none."
