IMDbSeth MacFarlane's scathing and irreverent animated show Family Guy has become a worldwide sensation. The programme focuses on the mishaps of the dysfunctional Griffin family, which consists of the bumbling father Peter, the patient wife Lois, their three kids, and their wry dog Brian. Family Guy's humour is often divisive and even unpleasant, but it's also sharp and frequently amusing. The programme is renowned for its cutaway jokes, which frequently make allusions to current affairs, politics, and popular culture. The voice casting is excellent, with MacFarlane lending his own voice to a number of significant characters, notably Peter and Stewie, the youngest Griffin family member. Even while some viewers might find the show's humour to be excessively crude or lowbrow, it has a loyal following of fans who enjoy its particular brand of humour. Whether you like it or not, Family Guy has unquestionably had a profound effect on both the field of animated television and popular culture in general.

Seth MacFarlane based the voice of Peter Griffin on a security guard he knew while going to college.
Seth MacFarlane has admitted that the family's constant abuse of Meg is a result of "a bunch of male writers not knowing how to write for a teenage girl."
Meg's friends assumed her name was short for Megan. In reality, when Lois hands Meg's birth certificate to Peter, he alters it. Meg's birth name is officially "Megatron Griffin".
The show has been cancelled twice, once following the second season, which caused the show to not air a new episode for a year, and the second (and longest) being between the third and fourth seasons, from 2002 to 2005. The program was the first to be brought back to air due to successful home media sales.
The show's Emmy nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2009 marked the first time since The Flintstones (1960) that an animated series earned such a nomination.
"Peter Griffin: Brian, there's a message in my Alpha Bits. It says "OOOOOO". Brian Griffin: Peter, those are Cheerios."
"[Stewie and Brian in the mall] Stewie Griffin: 10 bucks. Brian Griffin: Five bucks. Stewie Griffin: Eight bucks and I'll do it. Brian Griffin: Fine. [Stewie goes running through the center courtyard naked] Stewie Griffin: Help! I've escaped from Kevin Spacey's basement! Help me! [Stewie walks back to Brian naked] Stewie Griffin: Ha! I am so outrageous. Gimme the cash. [Stewie starts counting the money] Brian Griffin: Cold in here? Stewie Griffin: Nope, just really small."
