Director Craig Lahiff and the movie were nominated for Best Film at the Mystfest film festival in 1988.
Director Craig Lahiff said in an interview with David Stratton for the latter's book 'The Avocado Plantation: Boom and Bust in the Australian Film Industry' (1990): ''J.C. Williamsons handled the sales ... and though there were plenty of international sales, they were all video. We were told it just wasn't a big enough film.''
According to the 'Oz Movies' website, ''Willamson [J.C. Williamson Film Distributors Pty. Ltd.] laid off their risk with a sale to an American company which refused to pay and resulted in the film's release in the United States being delayed by legal disputes.''
Actor Bill Hunter allegedly refused to do any voice dubbing, post-synch work or additional dialogue recording during post-production.
Reportedly, during the latter part of the shoot's night filming on this picture actor Bill Hunter was regularly on set inebriated, and certain scenes in the movie are actually him drunk.
