The movie is set in 1989 although it is never mentioned.
Filmed in only 10 days, the budget was so tight the production could only afford two takes per shot. A number of the crew members and friends of the production double as extras. The models on the "Tiger Bop" posters, a reference to the 1980s teen magazine "Tiger Beat," were also friends of the cast who cameoed for free.
Both Dudley Beene and Brandon Alexander III had to undergo routine body shaving before filming. Both actors shaved themselves, and sustained massive cuts from using discount razors.
The school scenes were filmed on a number of locations, including a church. Despite all the proper clearances and permissions, passers by still called the police when they realized the two female leads were played by men.
Maggie (Dudley Beene)'s swimsuit is an homage to a similar costume used in Police Academy 5: Assignment: Miami Beach - Mistaken Identity: Case Reopened (2004). When Beene's costume proved unwieldy, the costume department fitted it with the ring between his cleavage, made from a penis support ring.
"Ms. Wood: These are just pictures of you dressed as a nun, with your first in your mouth. I see you shaved your cat. Cassie: Oh, I don't have a cat."
"Maggie: I was going to let you park in my garage. Who knows, maybe even visit the garage around back? I don't know how sex works!"
