The sea shanty song ''Bound for South Australia'' was heard in the original 'Fisherman's Friends' (2019) film which was set and filmed in Port Isaac in Cornwall, England. The Yorke Peninsula in South Australia has a strong Cornish lineage and has strong connections with Cornwall through its Cornish culture, legacy and heritage.

The movie was originally slated for a 2021 release but has been pushed back like many pictures due to COVID. It is now scheduled for a 2022 bow.

According to the British Comedy Guide, this sequel was ''initially due to be filmed in Summer 2020 for release on 12th March 2021, the film has been postponed due to delays and event cancellations amidst the coronavirus crisis and lockdown.''

According to the 'Deadline' website, this sequel will be a ''comedy music pic'' and ''will be called 'Fisherman's Friends 2: Bound for South Australia' and will follow the group from the highs of performing on the pyramid stage at Glastonbury to the lows of struggling with their second album. During a divisive tour of South Australia, they will trace their ancestors who were transported in the 1800s and embrace a new community and discover their musical DNA.''
