TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

The movie was funded by a Kickstarter campaign launched in June 2015.

The movie was originally planned to have had been mainly about Leonard Nimoy's Spock character, but when Leonard Nimoy himself died in 2015, his son decided to expand its scope to explore his life (the life of Leonard Nimoy) as well.

The making of the movie was a plot item in The Big Bang Theory: The Spock Resonance (2015) (S9E7, originally aired 11/5/15), in which the character Sheldon (Jim Parsons) is interviewed as part of the development of this film. This is why Parsons appears in the documentary as both Sheldon and as himself. Ironically, although Sheldon is a big Star Trek fan, Parsons has never watched any of the shows.

One of the thousands of Kickstarter contributors was Eugene "Rod" Roddenberry, the son of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry (and the CEO of Roddenberry Entertainment).

The Leonard Nimoy tribute collage shown burning at the 2015 Burning Man festival temple burn in "For the Love of Spock" was created by set dresser Chris Clark(XX) over a 2 day period at his lunch hour on stage 5 at the prospect lot while working on Grey's Anatomy in LA CA.

Popular Dialogues

"Leonard Nimoy: [from trailer] The review that Variety gave us when we first went on the air in September of 1966: "Star Trek won't work." [grins]"

"Leonard Nimoy: The pendulum swung completely when that first movie came along, from being an actor and character-oriented Star Trek, to an effects-oriented Star Trek. And the feeling was, "we didn't have the money before. Now we got the money, we got to give them a big effects movie." It was all about the ship, the ship, the effects, this effect, that effect, and we're going through this thing. Now, we're going through that thing. Nothing about the characters. So it was frustrating, and depressing, and uh very painful."
