Actress Honor Blackman admitted that despite the fact that she knew star Ian Bannen before this film, she was genuinely frightened of him during his intense performance.
Among horror fans this film is considered the first film to come up with the popular horror convention of a lone babysitter terrorized by a psychotic murderer.
In an interview with star Honor Blackman she said that she feared the young child in the film would have damaging repercussions from having been in scenes with intense violence. She said that there was no physical danger at all, as the 'shard of mirror glass' was really a fake prop, but worried the sheer intensity of the actors would be disturbing to the child.
Star Honor Blackman was married to Maurice Kaufmann, who appears as the Inspector in this film. Fright was the only film in which the two actors ever appeared in together, though their characters have little interaction.
The child that plays Tara was actually director Peter Collinson's son. His characters name in the film was the child's real name.
"Inspector: How do you spell that word, "psychotic"? Dr. Cordell: You may have to spell it M-U-R-D-E-R, murder, if you don't get someone over there quickly!"
