Gandhi Godse Ek Yudh is a one-of-its-kind production from Indian cinema that shows an alternate depiction of a big event in Indian history. Showing what what would have transpired had Mahatma Gandhi lived through his assassination attempt by Nathuram Godse, this movie is gripping for sure. Marking the comeback of director Rajkumar Santoshi, Gandhi Godse Ek Yudh shows us a fictionalised account of what a discourse between Gandhi and Godse would have looked like. It shows the two discussing the most important issues plaguing India right after independence, giving a platform for both sides to express views freely. While the issues raised and the cinematography is pretty good, the plot is rather confusing. Given it is a rare attempt by Indian cinema to present alternative realities, there really isn't much context to base it off either. So, we will give it a pass and call it a good attempt to touch upon historical controversies with a refreshing cinematic style.
