The title is a bit of a misnomer, as this special is more about Jon getting a life, rather than Garfield.
It was the final in the series of twelve Garfield television specials, in spite of the success of Garfield and Friends (1988) as CBS cancelled new animated specials in 1990.
"[Jon has just performed a goofy dance] Man: Hey, jerk! Disco is DEAD! Jon Arbuckle: What? When? [to himself] Jon Arbuckle: Boy - you learn a dance and then zango, 14 years later, they change it! Garfield: Go figure."
