The Tamil movie Ghosty, directed by Kalyaan, and starring Kajal Aggarwal, Yogi Babu, KS Ravikumar, and Urvashi, falls flat as a horror-comedy. Inspector Aarti, the main character, kills an innocent child while pursuing Daas, a mobster, in the plot. Three aspiring filmmakers swallow a hazardous liquid, which sets off a sequence of bizarre occurrences that upset Aarti's life and reveal a little child who fled from a mental institution. Despite having well-known actors in the cast, the audience finds it challenging to follow the plot due to the film's weak writing, lame one-liners, and bizarre circumstances. The film's attempts at situational humour fall flat, and the lack of any real frights prevents it from qualifying as a horror thriller. It is challenging to become invested in the story's world since the performers' performances lack conviction and audience connection. Despite the film's generally shoddy staging, the background score is able to improve some of the scenes. Ghosty serves us yet another reminder of the necessity for new talent in the Tamil film industry in order to reinvigorate the horror-comedy subgenre. The movie fails to make an impact on the audience because of its uninspired premise and shoddy acting.
