Natascha McElhone was originally set to voice Cortana, until Jen Taylor, who voices the character in the Halo video game series, replaced her. McElhone plays the role of Dr. Halsey only.

Pablo Schreiber said his Master Chief armor weighed 50 pounds. Bentley Kalu reported that his armor for Vannak-134 weighted roughly 30 kilograms (66 pounds). In the main Halo canon, the Mjolnir battlesuit weighs 1,000 pounds when in use.
This isn't the first attempt to adapt Halo: Combat Evolved (2001). Fox and Universal once cooperated on a movie version in 2005 that was set to be directed by Neill Blomkamp from a screenplay by Alex Garland and with Peter Jackson as supervising producer. However, Microsoft, the owner of the Halo series, had a long list of creative and financial demands. Of these creative demands, Microsoft wanted to stay rigidly faithful to the game's backstory without major compromises. When costs started to mount and Fox threatened to pull out, Universal wanted Jackson and Blomkamp to give up their share of the box office, which they refused. The project was eventually shelved after $10 million had already been spent on development. Paramount then greenlit this TV series in 2018, without involvement of Jackson, Blomkamp, and Garland.
Actors Pablo Schreiber, Natasha Culzac, Bentley Kalu, and Kate Kennedy (who play the Master Chief, Riz-028, Vannak-134, and Kai-124) underwent a week-long military boot camp in Budapest, Hungary. They were drilled on squad formations, military etiquette, equipment, weapons training, teamwork, physical training, patrolling, and how to react under enemy fire.
