In the 1990's this movie Hamraaz, with some changes, was remade as Deewana ( rishi kapoor, divya bharti & sharukh khan ) and Imthian ( sunny deol, saif ali khan & raveena tandon.)
In this film, Vimi was introduced as actress. The last time she was seen in a small role with Amrish Puri in Subhash Ghai's Krodhi. Then in Hamraaz, Mumtaz played a supporting but an important role and later she became big and major heroine. Also Sarika was in Hamraaz, when she was a small girl as Baby Sarika, later she became an heroine. Then about 38 years after Hamraaz, in the year 2005, Sarika was then seen in a small very important role in B.R.Chopra's Babul, which was her comback hindi film after nearly 20 years.
B.R.Chopra, as director this film was his first film he shot in colour, as producer his first colour production was Waqt which was directed by his younger brother Yash Chopra, who was B.R.Chopra's and I.S.Johar's assistant.
This was one of the first film made without the credit titles coming at the beginning of the film which was usual in every film. Even B.R.Chopra's Awaam film didn't have credit titles.
Vimi refused to shoot the last schedule of the film. B.R. Chopra had to take a flight down to Vimi's house to see what the problem was . Vimi did not want to be in a contract with B.R. Films. She was getting multiple offers and could not accept it. Chopra finally hesitantly released her but knew she was going to sign the wrong films.
