When Navin Nischol signed the film, he was told that Mumtaz would be his heroine and Priya Rajvansh in a small role. When he reported to the sets he found out this information was false.

After about 15 years later, in 1989, producer Pahlaj Nihalani remade Hanste Zakhm as Mitti Aur Sona.

This film was one of the last major film of which had excellent music by composer Madan Mohan.

After Hanste Zakham filmaker Chetan Anand started shooting the remake of his Afsar, which was tittled Sahib Bahadur and then the remake of his Taxi Driver tittled Jaaneman. Then he made Kudrat. He was working on Salim Anarkali he wanted to make the film but then shelved. His last film was Hathoon Ki Lakeeren, then he launched a film and even got two songs recorded by Adesh Srivastava but the film was shelved. He also made tv serials Paramvir Chakra.

The song Tum Jo Mil Gaye Ho was done by The Bartender .The Bartender is one of Mikey McCleary's projects where he re-interprets Bollywood classics with a contemporary touch and a new feel. This track was first heard on the Coca Cola bus ad directed by Dibakar Banerjee and featuring Imran Khan and Kalki Koechlin. This track also features on The Bartender's first album, Classic Bollywood: Shaken, not Stirred.
