This series is based on Joe R. Lansdale's book "Savage Season," first published in 1990.
The latest season uses the main street of Cedartown, Georgia as a scenic backdrop.
Season 1 was filmed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
This is not the first time James Purefoy and Michael Kenneth Williams have worked together. They starred in The Philanthropist (2009) some years back.
Episode 2 "The Bottoms" is the name of another Joe R. Lansdale (award-winning) novel although it doesn't feature the characters of Hap and Leonard. Like a lot of Lansdale stories it shares the East Texas setting, from which the author himself hails.
