Nini's song "All I Want" was inspired by Olivia Rodrigo's own Instagram feed, where she posts original compositions. Olivia wrote the song in less than a week.
Joe Serafini (Seb) plays the piano live throughout the series. Seb was only supposed to appear in two episodes.
Dara Renee twisted her knee in rehearsal for "Truth, Justice, and Songs in Our Key," right before they were going to shoot the big song. Larry Saperstein stepped in, learned her part of the dance in about 15 minutes.
Dara Renee's "Bop to the Top" solo wasn't in the initial version of the script. It's sung a cappella because of lack of time to record with musicians and Dara arranged this version of the song herself.
The character Gina wasn't written to be a dancer.
