IMDbComedian Robin Harris, who played Kid's father Pops in the first House Party film, passed away shortly after the first film. In House Party 2, his death is included in the plot line leaving Kid an orphan. The film is also dedicated to his memory in the opening credits.
In real life, Kid (Christopher Reid) earned his B.A. in English from Lehman College in the Bronx, New York in 1986. Play (Christopher Martin) like the albeit fictional screen version of himself did not graduate from college, but has served for several years (post entertainment career) as an adjunct / visiting professor of Hip Hop music culture and history at Miles College, North Carolina Central University, and as of May 2017 has been the Professional in Residence at Florida A&M University 's Music Industry & Hip Hop Institute and Development Content in the School of Journalism and Graphic Communication.
R&B singer Ralph Tresvant, lead singer of New Edition performed songs during the Pajama Jammy Jam in the cafeteria, and have the songs on the House Party 2 soundtrack. The rap song introduced in the beginning of the movie during Kid's dream sequence is actually a rap song recorded by Tresvant for his 1990 self titled debut album. It is the first song on his album.
It was the acting debut of Rapper Kamron who was a member of the Young Black Teenagers. Despite their name, none of its members were actually Black.
Pop's grave reveals his real name is Christopher Robinson and lived from 1954 to 1990, meaning Christopher Jr. is Kid's legal name. 1990 is also the year that Robin Harris (who played Pop) died, very shortly after the release of the first House Party movie, although Harris was actually born in 1953.
"Play: Man, that Kid would forget his Dick if it wasn't screwed on tight."
"Jamal: Yo yo, what up Black, the Names Jamal. [Kid looks at him bug eyed] Jamal: Why you buggin, cuz I'm white?"
