"In from the cold" is not Cold War-specific although it is from the 1963 Cold War espionage novel The Spy Who Came In From The Cold by John le Carre. It means to be brought home from active duty in the field. The term was used - and explained as such - when the character of Leamas visited Circus chief Control following the liquidation of his network.
The title "In From The Cold" is an allusion to the John Le Carre novel, "The Spay Who Came In From the Cold" but is seemingly applied in the exact opposite of how it is used by Le Carre. In the Le Carre novel, a spy is "in the cold" when they are under cover in the field, To be "In from the cold" is to leave the spy game behind for the safety and security if a normal life - which Jenny had achieved before the start of the series. When she is dragged back into the spy game, she goes back into the cold.
Lead actresses Margarita Levieva and Stasya Miloslavskaya were both born in Russia; Levieva also attended college at NYU, just like her character.
The "Cold" within its main title is a reference to the Cold War that lasted from the 12th of March 1947 to the 26th of December 1991. Where two ideologies' of East [USSR] & Western [America] culture's fought against each other.
